A BFA graduate from the School of Visual Arts in New York City, Heather experiments with unconventional materials and methods of application. She is inspired by the special relationships of objects, the play between positive and negative space, and colour contrast. She also finds inspiration in small details within a larger space that create a sense of movement.
“I am currently finding a lot of inspiration in aerial topography, such as images taken from high-flying aircraft and satellites. The organic and free flowing shapes of the natural environment, and the juxtaposition of man-made elements within, lend themselves creatively to my work. I enjoy the challenge of using fluid mediums that the artist does not have complete control over, leaving the application free form and requiring me to adapt to where the composition takes itself”.
Inspiration come from Mary Heilmann, Fiona Rae, M.C. Escher, Edgar Degas among others.
