About

Gallery Violet wad founded in 2010 to champion Beauty in art. We represent artists from the UK, US, Russia, China, India, Pakistan, Belgium, Netherlands, Serbia and Canada.

The collection ranges from sublime Romantic painting, with Hugo Grenville, to the huge power of large-scale abstract painting with Bradley Harms, John Cabot and Andrew Weis.

Andrew Weis paints large-scale pieces that are almost overwhelming in their turbulent and fluid energy whilst Harms’ style of abstract painting deals more explicitly with definite forms that build on each other to create hypnotic palimpsests of shapes and colour. Both these painters present the viewer with art that is at once visceral and complex; which strikes a balance between the sensory and the cerebral that characterises the work Gallery Violet specializes in.

Similarly, the scale and lyrical beauty of Sarah Medway’s meticulously detailed work has a quality which art critic Andrew Lambirth describes as:

‘Medway’s dancing surfaces seem to scatter light like reflections on water. At other times, her seductive paintwork draws the eye in to a deeper focus; a detail…her rain of light is achieved by the subtle dispersal of colour across the canvass…’

The artists brought together by Gallery Violet are diverse, yet they are all united by the vibrancy and honesty of their work.  Gallery Violet is itself a fervent celebration of beauty, colour and vitality in art.
